THE PELICAN INN

The Pelican Inn offers eight self contained studio units with simple but comfortable accommodations.  Amenities include:

• 400 square foot units, each with a balcony or deck

• Each unit has full view of the Gulf and the Inn sits directly on the sugar white sand beach

• Air conditioning/heating for each room and ceiling fans

• Kitchen with full sized stove and refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot.  Dishes and cookware included

• Sleeps 4- Each room has queen size bed, and either a sleep sofa or futon

• Full bathroom including tub with shower

• Shared 100 foot long deck sits on the beach with two swings and table and chairs for outside dining

• Inn Manager offers free pick up and delivery to ferry/water taxi landing site (5 minutes from the inn)

• As there are no stores on the island, guests must bring food and drinking water with them to the island

• Well behaved pets are accepted with a $10/day pet fee (Bottom units only, top floor is pet free)

Environmental Commitment

Dog Island has a delicately balanced ecosystem.  It is of the utmost importance that guests are conscious of the fragility of the island ecosystem. The Apalachicola River Estuary, the healthiest river system in the country, lies between Dog Island and the mainland and is a vast nursery for shrimp, crab, oysters and food fish. 

What you will find on Dog island are unobstructed views, rare bird colonies, wooded paths, and pristine waters. What you won't find are stores, many cars, or restaurants.  It is for this reason that food, drinking water, and garbage must be hauled on and off the island.  Supplies should be purchased before leaving Carrabelle. There is an IGA full service grocery store located in town on Highway 98.
